Rebuild the Search Index

Valid for Sitecore 5.3

The Lucene.NET search engine is used by Sitecore by default. Though the search index is updated automatically (for example, on item save event), sometimes it may become out of date due to some installation process or abnormal operation. In this case it can be rebuilt manually by using this option.

Selecting the ‘Rebuild the Search Index’ option starts the dialogue where a user can choose the database and rebuild the search index for it.

Choose a database in the ‘Rebuild Search Index’ field, click Next and the rebuilding process will start.

Note: this process may take up several minutes depending on the size of the database.
